Weekly Life Drawing Class in King’s Lynn
I’m excited to tell you I’m planning a weekly untutored life drawing class in King’s Lynn, within walking distance of the town centre. I’ll be modelling to begin with, and I’ll invite other models if the class grows. Each session will run for three hours, with a refreshment break halfway through, and a fee of £15 per session. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, please leave a comment or message me to register your interest.
Why an Untutored Life Drawing Class?
An untutored life drawing class provides artists with the freedom to explore, experiment, and develop a personal approach. There won’t be formal instruction, allowing you to set your own pace. Whether you want to practise quick gesture sketches or spend longer on detailed studies, the session will support you. This format suits artists of all levels, from beginners curious about figure drawing to experienced practitioners refining technique.
Who Is This For?
This class is for anyone interested in figure drawing. If you are new to life drawing, you’ll find a relaxed, supportive environment. If you already attend classes, this offers extra practice without interruptions from critique. I welcome sketchers, painters, and mixed-media artists. Bring your preferred materials and experiment with scale, tone and composition.
Session Structure
Each three-hour session will include a variety of poses and timings to suit different practice goals. Typical format:
- Short warm-up gestures, 1–5 minute poses.
- Medium studies, 10–20 minute poses.
- For detailed work, poses can be held for up to 45–60 minutes.
- Take a break for tea, coffee, and light snacks halfway through.
This mix helps you train speed and observation while allowing for focused and careful work.
About Me — Your Life Model
I’ve modelled for classes and private sessions for years across Norfolk. I understand how to hold poses that help artists study anatomy, weight and line. I’m comfortable with both long and short poses, as well as adjusting the pace to suit the group. If the class attracts consistent interest, I’ll invite other models to provide variety in build, age and posture.
Venue and Comfort
I have a venue in mind and will let you know once everything is finalised. It will be conveniently located within walking distance of King’s Lynn town centre for easy access. I’m aiming for a bright, well-ventilated space with comfortable heating levels. I’ll share the confirmed location and access details as soon as everything is secured.
What to Bring
I’ll bring pencils, A4 paper, and clipboards to get everyone started. Feel free to bring your preferred materials, such as charcoal, graphite, ink, or pastels. An easel or drawing board is helpful for longer poses, although table space will also be available. You may also want to bring a carry bag, an apron or old shirt, and a small towel to catch charcoal dust.
Respect, Safety and Consent
We’ll maintain a respectful atmosphere at all times—modelling comfort and dignity is essential. Photography will not be permitted unless by prior arrangement for reference use. If you have any accessibility needs or concerns, please let me know when you express interest so I can make suitable arrangements.
Why Join?
Regular life drawing practice accelerates observational skills and confidence. Short poses sharpen gesture and rhythm; long poses deepen understanding of form and light. Sharing a studio with focused, like-minded artists also builds community and creative momentum. For £15 per three-hour class—including refreshments—this is a practical way to maintain a weekly drawing habit.
Practical Details & Booking
At this stage, I’m gauging interest to confirm frequency and venue. If there’s sufficient demand, I’ll secure a weekly slot. I’ll send updates, venue confirmation and booking instructions to those who register interest. Payment details will be straightforward and secure, with a small advance or payment on the day. If you prefer block booking, please let me know and I’ll provide the details.
Interested? Let Me Know
If you’d like to join or want more information, please leave a comment below or send me a message. Please share your experience level, preferred days and evenings, and any accessibility needs. Your feedback helps me plan timings, poses and model variety.
Final Note
Life drawing is a generous conversation between artist and model. It helps you see more clearly, draw with greater confidence, and enjoy time in good company. I’m excited to create a friendly, focused space in King’s Lynn where art can flourish. Please get in touch to express your interest — I’d love to hear from you and welcome you to the studio soon.
